Chapter 651 Knight Bus
The next day, after breakfast, everyone prepared to return to Hogwarts. Tonks and Lupin escorted them again, while Professor McGonagall went back to school last night.
Fish did not go with them because he heard that they would not take the Hogwarts Express this time, but the Knight Bus.
"When the Knight Bus first started operating, many pure-blood wizards wrote to the Daily Prophet and the readers' letters column to resist this "Muggle-style insult," Mr. Weasley was introducing the means of transportation they were about to take to Fish, "but more wizards welcomed it, and it has now become one of the indispensable means of transportation in England!"
"That bus, can it also fly like your car, Arthur?"
(ω)
The cat asked excitedly.
"Ahahaha..." Mr. Weasley laughed dryly, "They can fly, but they rarely do that. Most of the time they run on the ground. In fact, many of the inspirations for my car come from the Knight Bus, such as flying and invisibility... Unfortunately, I have never been able to understand the principle of the Knight Bus's function that can automatically jump away all obstacles in front..."
As he spoke, Mr. Weasley, who was a little embarrassed, gradually became excited, but when he found that Mrs. Weasley was glaring at him fiercely, his voice quickly faded.
On the other side, Neville's grandmother was giving Neville instructions, and Sirius was also whispering something to Harry and secretly stuffing a small package into him. Fish shook his ears and heard it, but didn't care.
After saying goodbye to everyone else one by one, Fish and the others walked out of No. 12 Grimmauld Place and came to the sidewalk. Behind them, No. 12 was shrinking rapidly, and the houses on both sides extended to squeeze it. In the blink of an eye, it disappeared.
"Hurry up, the sooner the better." Tonks glanced at the square and said, Harry felt that there was some tension in her eyes. Lupin waved his right hand, and he still held the wand in his hand.
"Bang!"
A bright purple three-decker bus fell from the sky and almost hit the lamppost, but the lamppost jumped back to avoid it.
"Welcome to the Knight Bus!"
The conductor Stan Shunpike, who had met Harry once, jumped down and greeted everyone to get on the bus enthusiastically.
"We know, thank you," Tonks said quickly: "Get on the bus, get on the bus..."
As she spoke, she pushed Harry and the others to the bus.
Harry avoided Stan's gaze a little embarrassedly, because the last time he took the Knight Bus, he used Neville's name, and now Neville was next to him...
But his worries were obviously unnecessary, because when Fish appeared on the bus, it immediately caused quite a commotion.
Except for a few passengers who were lucky enough to be treated by the cat, the wizards who only knew Fish through newspapers were particularly excited when they saw the cat for the first time. They surrounded Fish and just wanted to talk to him.
The conductor Stan and the driver Ernest Plan stood in front of Fish, and loudly comforted the crowd. They had no time to greet Harry, but just nodded to him from a distance.
Harry breathed a sigh of relief, and then followed Ron, Ginny and Tonks to the upper carriage, while the twins, Neville and Lupin walked to the back of the carriage. Only Hermione stayed with Fish.
The conductor Stan and the driver Ernest finally calmed everyone down. After taking the twenty-two silver Sickles from Hermione, they went to the back to collect the money from Lupin and others.
Fish came up to the driver and asked, "Ernest, can Fish climb onto the roof?"
(ω)
"Just call me Ern," said the driver, who was wearing thick glasses, "It's safer for you to stay inside the car."
Hermione on the side also advised, "If Minerva finds out, she'll blame you again."
The idea of climbing onto the roof to get some fresh air was jointly dissuaded by the driver and Hermione, so Fish had to settle for the next best thing and asked to sit next to the driver's seat and watch him drive.
Ernest naturally agreed to this small request, and unlike the Muggle buses, the Knight Bus's stools were not fixed on the bus, and even had various shapes, making it look like the passengers brought them themselves.
Hermione was very dissatisfied with this, because she felt that such a design was too unreasonable, so when she and Fish moved the chairs over, she kept muttering about this bad experience.
The car started moving. The speed was not fast for Fish, but Ernest's driving style was very wild. The car swayed around Grimmauld Place, twisting and turning, and sometimes even driving on the sidewalk.
Then there was another loud bang, and the whole car suddenly braked, causing all the passengers to rush forward. Many people's chairs flipped over. Hermione screamed and hugged Fish beside her, and Mao Mao also hugged her to protect her from falling.
Actually... this design doesn't seem so bad?
Hermione, who was held in Fish's arms, thought so...
The next moment, the car started again, and they sped along a highway. The three-story Knight Bus swayed from side to side, and from time to time it would tilt at a scary angle, as if it could flip over at any time.
"Meow ha ha ha! Your car is much more interesting than the train at Hogwarts meow!"
(≧≦)
The excited Phish simply stood up, holding Hermione with one hand and holding the backrest of the driver's seat with the other hand, and said to Ernest with a chuckle: "You can drive faster meow, Ern?"
"Of course!" Ernest replied with a big laugh.
His driving skills have always been complained by passengers. It is rare for someone to praise him, and it is the famous Phish McGonagall, which makes Ernest very happy...
Then he stepped on the accelerator to the bottom.
Amid the exclamations of other passengers and the collision of luggage, the Knight Bus swayed with an even more exaggerated amplitude, shuttling through the Muggle traffic. Occasionally, there were vehicles or obstacles that were not avoided in time, and they would be affected by the car's own spells and automatically jumped to the side, but the surrounding Muggles could not detect it at all.
Bang!
The chairs all slid backwards, and the Knight Bus jumped from the Birmingham Highway to a quiet country road, with dangerous bends all the way. As the car swerved to the left and right and pressed against the roadside, hedges jumped out of the way.
They drove onto a main road in the downtown area, an elevated bridge in the mountains, and then a street between tall buildings with a cold wind, and there was a loud bang every time.
Occasionally, passengers got off the bus, and it was not known whether they had really arrived at the station or they could not stand such a toss and wanted to escape.
"Such a bus can actually operate for more than a hundred years..." Hermione, who had been burying her head in Fish's arms since the start of the car, complained in a muffled voice.
Even with Fish's protection, she still felt that her stomach had been tortured a lot, and her whole head was dizzy. If it weren't for Mao Mao holding her, she would have fallen to the ground in all likelihood.
Although Hermione did not see the situation of other passengers with her own eyes, the frequent vomiting sounds and the exclamations behind her said everything.
After a thrilling journey, the Knight Bus finally stopped outside the gate of Hogwarts.
Except for Fish, everyone else rushed down from the car with pale faces, as if fleeing.
"I changed my mind," Ron covered his still churning stomach and his bruised forehead, and swore firmly: "I don't want to ride this thing again!"
Tonks also said in confusion: "It feels like the Knight Bus today is much faster than usual..."
Lupin and others who were on the same floor with Fish glanced at the cats who were still unsatisfied, and then sighed together.
"What's wrong, meow?"
(ω)
Fish, who noticed their gaze, looked back confidently.
"No, nothing happened..." George and Fred waved their hands in sync, "We just think... Dad's car is nothing compared to the Knight."
"That's right, meow!" Fish nodded vigorously, agreeing, "This car is much more interesting than Arthur's, meow!"
"Okay, you should go in." Tonks probably guessed why the Knight Bus was so wild today. She rolled her eyes secretly, then glanced at the quiet street vigilantly, "I hope you have a good time at school."
Harry laughed dryly and didn't say anything. When he thought about going to Snape for tutoring later, he didn't think it would be fun.
The twins also shook their heads in unison and said, "Umbridge's toad won't let us have a happy school life."
"Speaking of toads... Neville, Radford is going to run away again, meow."
(ΦωΦ)
Fish pointed to the toad jumping in the snow not far away and reminded.
"Oh! God!"
Neville ran over and grabbed Rafe and put it back into his pocket.
Just as everyone was joking, Lupin came to Harry and whispered, "Harry, I know you don't like Snape, but he is a superb brain occludin master. We, including Sirius, hope that you can learn to protect yourself, so study hard, okay?"
"Okay." Harry replied heavily, he looked up at Lupin and said goodbye to him in a depressed mood: "Goodbye..."
After saying goodbye to Lupin and Tonks, they walked towards the castle along the icy driveway while talking and laughing.
