Twenty Gods
Chapter 247 Twenty Heavens
Qin Mu, Ma Ye and others sped up, but Ma Ye needed to calm Granny Si's mind, and he felt more and more exhausted, so he gradually slowed down.
Sect Leader Li is growing rapidly, and Granny Si's cultivation is also getting stronger and stronger. Master Ma doesn't dare to use his full strength, for fear of hurting Granny Si's soul, which will bring many unstable variables to this trip.
Granny Si woke up less and less frequently, while Sect Leader Li woke up more and more frequently. Qin Mu was extremely anxious, but he was powerless to do anything.
This basin was originally an ocean, which should be the East China Sea mentioned by the statue of the Heavenly King. The terrain is also extremely complex, with deep trenches and natural moats that are thousands of feet high, and steep mountains that are as sharp as knife blades.
The original East China Sea has become land, and the seawater has disappeared. There is no seawater. However, Qin Mu feels that it is a bit strange. He heard from the villagers that the sea is floating in the air at night, and the seawater is everywhere, but it is nowhere to be seen during the day.
So where did the sea water go?
The deeper you go, the more bizarre and powerful the creatures here become. There are also glowing jellyfish flying around in the sky. When night falls, the jellyfish will hide in the temple, like colorful lanterns.
They also encountered living dragons, some of which lived in deep ravines, and some of which lived in volcanoes, dividing the land and ruling as kings.
As long as they were not provoked, these dragons would rarely come out. Occasionally, Qin Mu saw dragons flying out of their nests and going to the villages to catch people to eat. When they saw them on the road, the dragons saw that they were very powerful and did not dare to act recklessly, so they just flew past.
Once you leave this basin, it’s only two days’ journey to Mount Sumeru.
These past few days, Qin Mu and his companions did not even dare to relax when sleeping. They were always ready to wake up and suppress Sect Leader Li. It was really hard work. Only Long Qilin slept enough and ate well, with his fur and scales shiny and glossy.
Qin Mu and others simply jumped onto the back of the Dragon Qilin and let this huge creature carry them towards Mount Xumi.
Gradually, more and more Buddhists came to the villages along the way. Every household worshipped Buddha statues. Some even placed the Buddha statues together with the stone statues in the village to worship both gods and Buddhas.
After Qin Mu inquired, he learned that some monks came to preach and treat the villagers, and therefore were very popular.
"Buddhism is also interested in Daxu."
The blind man laughed and said, "The Great Leiyin Temple rescued the abandoned people of Daxu, which does have some meaning of equality for all living beings. However, it is a bit tricky and seems to be using the name of the stone statue to accumulate merit."
The closer to the Great Leiyin Temple, the more Buddhist temples there are. Some of these temples are very popular and house Buddha statues of different forms. However, at night, the people of Daxu and the strange beasts will not hide in these temples, but still hide in places with stone statues and statues of gods.
Qin Mu thought to himself: "The Tathagata has good intentions, but it is still difficult to compete with the gods in the Great Ruins. He can only cure diseases, not save lives."
There were gradually more and more mountains nearby, with temples of all sizes standing side by side. Qin Mu and his companions passed by several temples. It was getting late, so they planned to stay the night in one of them.
The temple is bustling with incense and has hundreds of monks. Even at night, they are not afraid at all and continue to chant Buddhist scriptures.
"Do these monks have great magical powers that can resist the darkness of Daxu?" Qin Mu was surprised.
Unexpectedly, many Buddha statues emitted a faint divine light in the dark night, blocking the darkness outside. Qin Mu approached a Buddha statue and looked at it, his face couldn't help but darken.
The monks in this temple actually coated the Daxu stone statue with a layer of clay, then burned it to make it look like a Buddha statue, and pasted gold foil on the outside to make it look like a golden Buddha. At night, the stone statue protects the area, and it looks like the Buddha statue is showing its power to protect all living beings.
Qin Mu looked with his heavenly eyes and saw that the gods protecting Daxu were emitting thousands of feet of divine light, not the Buddha's light from the statues.
There are also some extremely ferocious beasts in the temple, which never leave the temple during the day. The monks in the temple seem to be accustomed to it. These beasts are not tied up and are allowed to wander around the temple.
Surprisingly, these man-eating beasts became very docile in the temple, eating vegetarian food and chanting Buddhist scriptures, changing their ferocious nature. The Daxu residents who stayed here said that this was the power of Buddhism.
However, Qin Mu saw the monks secretly feeding these strange beasts large chunks of flesh and blood, and there was a smell of anesthetic in the meat.
Qin Mu was stunned and frowned.
"Mu'er, don't worry too much."
The blind man whispered, "The Great Leiyin Temple is very close. Destroying the temple here will only let the Great Leiyin Temple get the news and make things difficult for us. They may not save Granny Si."
"hypocritical!"
Granny Si sneered, "This is the hypocrisy of Buddhism. You clearly don't have any great supernatural powers, but you take on other people's supernatural powers and boast that they are the power of Buddhism. Blind man, Master Ma, you are also hypocritical. You have something to ask of the old Tathagata, but you dare not expose these bald donkeys' tricks!"
Qin Mu said, "Whether he has great magical powers or not, wouldn't Master Li know when he meets Old Tathagata at the Great Leiyin Temple?"
Granny Si chuckled and said, "Master Qin, are you worthy of being the Master of my Holy Sect? You are the Master of my Heavenly Holy Sect, but you go to ask the old Tathagata of the enemy sect to do things for you. This is a disgrace to the reputation of my Heavenly Holy Sect! The prestige of my Heavenly Holy Sect has been completely destroyed by you! When I fully recover, I will return to the Holy Sect and reorganize it, and show you what a Master of the Holy Sect should do!"
Qin Mu remained calm and asked, "What should the Holy Master do?"
"Tear off the hypocritical masks of these old bald donkeys, smash these Buddha statues to reveal the statues of gods inside!"
Granny Si said leisurely, "Remove the anesthetics from these strange beasts, let them eat people, reveal their true nature, slaughter the bald donkeys here, and eat all the thieves in the temple! Let these fools see that the bullshit Buddhism is useless and just for show! Hehe, the so-called right way is nothing but shit, let the shit show its true face, don't put a layer of gold on the outside of the clay! This is the teaching of my Tiansheng Sect, the true and correct answer of letting nature take its course!"
Qin Mu felt that what he said made sense, but the method was a bit extreme. He originally wanted to remove the anesthetics in the bodies of these strange beasts, but he thought that the strange beasts would eat people when they woke up, so he had to give up.
Finally, the Great Leiyin Temple came into sight. From afar, one could see a towering mountain standing in the center of the Shenduan Mountains. Other mountains were cut apart by infinite power, forming cliffs that were difficult for birds to cross, and covered with snow. Only this mountain was still vast and boundless, with many peaks standing in rows, surrounding the main peak.
Strangely enough, the peaks here form layers of steps. At the bottom are three thousand peaks, forming a big circle. The second layer has nine hundred and ninety-nine peaks. The next layer has ninety-nine peaks, and the next layer has ninety-nine peaks. Each layer is higher than the previous one, guarding the main peak in the center.
There are many temples on hills of all sizes, enshrining huge and majestic Buddha statues. Some hills are simply carved into giant Buddhas. Some temples are built on the Buddha's palms, and some are built in the Buddha's heart.
“It’s luxurious.”
The blind man praised: "Master Ma, why do you Buddhist temples always like to wear gold and silver? It's so magnificent and luxurious, wouldn't it be better if you use it to help disaster relief? Monks are empty-handed except for their hands."
Master Ma said calmly: "If it's not impressive, who will come to worship Buddha and who will provide for him?"
Granny Si sneered: "Hypocrisy..."
Qin Mu shouted, "Shut up! I'll refine you to death later!"
"You little bastard, you even dare to scold me!" Granny Si was furious.
Qin Mu was at a loss, and said hesitantly: "It turned out to be Grandma. Grandma, don't take it to heart, I thought it was Master Li who ran out again."
Granny Si sneered, "These thieves are obviously hypocritical. Master Ma, I'm not talking about you. Look around, which temple is not grand and luxurious, and extravagant? Which Buddha statue is not adorned with gold and silver, and has a golden body? Among all the temples, only these bald monks' temples are the most luxurious! These monks do not produce, do not pay taxes, and gossip when their interests are affected. They also raise monk soldiers and rebel, and they want to control the world's situation."
"Shut up, monster!"
Suddenly, an angry shout was heard from mid-air. Qin Mu looked up and saw a monk in mid-air with Buddha's light around him, looking very solemn. It was obvious that he heard Granny Si's words when he passed by and shouted at her.
The monk was shocked when he saw Lord Horse. He ran away immediately, shouting, "Something bad has happened! Lord Horse has come up the mountain again!"
In the temples on the mountain peaks, the monks were in an uproar. They flew up in a busy manner and stood in formation in mid-air, as if facing a great enemy.
Master Ma said calmly, "I made a little noise when I came to retrieve my arm last time. Let's go up the mountain."
A cloud of fire appeared under the feet of the dragon unicorn and it rushed towards the main peak in the center.
The main peak was suspended above the sea of clouds, and was illuminated by the sunlight on the sea of clouds, shining with golden light, so it was called the Golden Summit. Even a dragon unicorn would need some time to fly up there. There were thousands of temples along the way, many of which were highly accomplished monks with great magical powers, but they dared not stop them, yet they were unwilling to let them directly reach the Golden Summit of Mount Xumi.
More and more monks flew out, riding on various exotic beasts, forming a formation around the golden summit, layer upon layer, densely packed, ready to subdue demons and monsters.
Qin Mu couldn't help but admire Master Ma: "The last time Master Ma came here, I'm afraid he fought his way straight to the main peak."
Master Ma asked Long Qilin to stop. He saw tens of thousands of monks in front of him forming a copper wall and iron wall to protect the golden roof. He said, "I have come to see Tathagata to ask for something."
His voice shook the whole mountain, and suddenly all the mountains were filled with strange visions. Golden springs gushed out from the ground, lotus flowers fell from the sky, and the shadows of the eight groups of celestial dragons appeared in the air. The shadows of the gods from the twenty levels of heaven descended from the sky. Strange visions occurred one after another, brilliant light shone everywhere, and everyone chanted the Buddha's name together.
This mantra stunned countless monks.
At this moment, an old voice on the golden roof suddenly laughed and said, "The Horse King God has become more powerful than before. You must have cultivated to the Brahma Heaven Realm in the twenty layers of the Tathagata Mahayana Sutra. If you take one more step, you will be the Tathagata. All monks, please step down and let him come up. I have been waiting for him for a long time."
"Twenty Heavens?" Qin Mu was slightly startled and looked at Master Ma.
The iron wall formed by the monks in front of him dissipated. Master Ma asked Long Qilin to walk up the mountain and said, "These are the twenty heavenly realms in the Tathagata Mahayana Sutra. When you have cultivated all twenty heavenly realms, you will be the Tathagata. When I left the Great Leiyin Temple, I had already cultivated to the nineteenth level of the Heavenly Emperor Shitian Realm, and I was already the strongest person in the world."
