Chapter 472: New Tricks
Li Yang opened his eyes and found himself in a strange and desolate environment.
Surrounding him was an endless gray plain, with cracks all over the ground and a dark sky without a ray of sunlight.
In the distance, the remains of some dilapidated buildings could be vaguely seen, and everything was immersed in a decadent and desolate atmosphere.
"Where is this?" Artemis looked around and frowned.
Onirii stuck out his tongue and tasted the air, his face solemn: "This place... was once the human world, but... it has been destroyed by the plague."
Li Yang stood up with some doubts, frowned and murmured:
"I thought... that time-space gate would directly teleport us to the universe..."
"But this place should be similar, right?"
Demeter next to him smiled slightly and said:
"My authority now is time. How can I teleport you across the two planes of reality and dreams?"
T walked over doubtfully, looked around, and asked doubtfully:
"Then where is this?"
Demeter spoke and answered simply:
"This is the Ark of the Future."
"I just tried to find a way out from the timeline, but found this singularity."
"If we don't do something, no matter how things develop outside, we will eventually return to this world..."
"Obviously, this is not a good ending."
Everyone looked at each other in silence, feeling a sense of desolation in their hearts.
At this moment, T suddenly pointed to the distance and said: "Wait, there are figures over there!"
Everyone looked in the direction of the voice, and sure enough, in the shadow of the dilapidated building, there were several figures shivering and curled up.
Fearing to alarm some evil power.
"Oh! There are still living people? Great!" Oniriyi was refreshed and wanted to greet them, but was pulled by Li Yang.
"Be careful." Li Yang whispered, "Those guys don't look normal."
Hearing this, several people hid a little, squatted in a corner, and began to spy secretly.
Among the figures, a burly man slowly raised his head, his face terrified.
"We...what did we do wrong?" the man muttered to himself, "Why do we have to suffer such a disaster? Is it really meaningless to live?"
The woman next to him choked and begged: "Don't say it...as long as we are alive, there is still hope...right?"
"Hope?" The man sneered, "In such a world, what do you expect?"
"There are only three of us left in the entire universe! [Epidemic] abandoned us, and [God] also abandoned us!"
"What hope do we have!"
"We won't die like this." Another man spoke, With a firm tone, "As long as humans are still around, there is hope for rebuilding our homeland! Now it's just temporary..."
"Temporary? Look at this devastated world!" The big man roared with a fierce smile, "It's all that bastard's fault... that lunatic's fault..."
"If it weren't for her, how could we have fallen to this point today? Everything is over! We can't even grow something edible! There's not even a cockroach left in the entire universe!!"
As he spoke, the man picked up the rubble on the side and smashed it hard against the ruins. He was like a madman, venting his inner anger and helplessness.
Li Yang and others looked at each other, looking at the miserable situation of those poor people, and couldn't help but feel puzzled.
"Is this the outcome if we allow the plague to run rampant?" Artemis murmured, "Everything will be wiped out, the entire civilization...living things...all destroyed."
Demeter nodded: "Perhaps, so we must prevent this from happening. This future cannot be a foregone conclusion."
Li Yang took a deep breath and asked in confusion:
"What does that guy mean by...the plague also abandoned them?"
"Are there still people who believe in the plague in the Ark?"
T was stunned, then slowly lowered his head:
"It seems...there really are."
"Although the plague has long been an existence that everyone in this universe avoids, there are still some people who are willing to regard it as a kind of salvation."
"Those people regard the plague as a bridge to the afterlife, and even found that someone secretly cultivated the plague in the Ark."
"The Ark was much larger than it is now..."
Before he finished speaking, a strange laugh suddenly sounded in everyone's ears, like the whisper of a demon.
Then came a large number of black tentacles that fell from the sky.
The tentacles quickly descended, wrapped around the poor people, and strangled them alive.
Then it turned into a human figure, with a face of Li Yang on it, and slowly turned around.
"Why do you have to pinch it into my appearance..."
"Alas, it really is..."
Li Yang sighed slightly and complained faintly.
Then, the human-shaped plague slowly opened its mouth and said in a nearly hoarse voice:
"You...?"
"Do you still want to... continue running...?"
As it spoke, the corners of this guy's mouth were directly grinned to his ears, and his dark eyes were as creepy as the abyss.
Li Yang and others were immediately shocked by the disgusting expression, and their hearts almost stopped beating.
Just when Artemis was about to draw her bow and shoot its head, Demeter suddenly stopped her:
"Don't mess with it, that being is not in the same plane as us, and we can't hit it."
She said calmly, "But the plague is indeed aware of our existence and is communicating with us in some way."
"Is it declaring war on us?" T snorted coldly.
"No one knows about this." Demeter sighed, then slowly raised her head, "Anyway...it knows we are watching it."
The humanoid plague slowly raised his hands, as if making some kind of bluffing threat.
Artemis immediately drew the bow, and her slender arms showed beautiful muscle lines due to the force.
"Don't be impulsive." Li Yang held her arm and shook his head.
He looked at the humanoid plague with a firm expression: "What do you want? If you just want to trap us, you should realize that it won't work."
The humanoid plague let out a shrill and strange laugh, and then turned into thousands of black maggots, spreading rapidly.
They crawled at an amazing speed, and in a blink of an eye, they had submerged everything around them.
"This...should we accept it or not?" T's voice was a little loud. She unfolded the muzzle on her arm armor and quickly aimed at those hideous things, ready to fight.
Demeter looked solemn. She stretched out her palm to meet the army of maggots. A light green force burst out from her body, instantly freezing the maggots in place.
