Chapter 688 A Thousand Years Can Pass in Just One Thought
"What a strange place?"
Qi Wugou looked doubtful.
He and Shuiyue Monk came to a deserted land, which seemed to be a hidden place in the Purgatory Mountain in the time and space of the Demonic Well.
This secret place is shrouded in very light Buddha light. This Buddha light is very light and transparent, giving a feeling of the lamp running out of oil.
Qi Wugou looked around and found that the place was extremely desolate. There were strange dead trees, twisted and twisted, vaguely like a human figure, with intertwined roots and roots in the earth. Zhiya bared his teeth and danced his claws, looking very weird at first glance.
If you look carefully, you will find that the wood has a purple-black color, which looks like red sandalwood, but it is not red sandalwood.
"This is the ancient tree of Sharo!"
Shuiyue Monk recognized it at a glance and knew that it was the ancient Saluo sacred tree. There was also a Saluo double tree on this strange land.
The two Saluo sacred trees, one withered and one flourishing, show the supreme Zen philosophy of "endless birth and death, everlasting happiness in Nirvana".
"The bell of Gion Abode rings, and all things in the world are impermanent. The flower of the two trees of Sara said, the peak of prosperity must decline. This is the vicissitudes of life..."
Shuiyue Monk couldn't help but recite a poem.
"Second brother, what does this mean?"
Qi Wugou asked doubtfully.
"Third brother, do you know where this place is?"
Shuiyue Monk asked back.
"I-I don't know about this."
Qi Wugou didn't understand what he meant, but he still answered honestly.
"This is the Saraswati Forest in Kushinagar City. This is a rare sacred tree, comparable to the dragon's blood tree that grows in the earth's veins. Unfortunately, it has become extinct in later generations."
"Actually, there are several kinds of sacred trees in the world, such as the Netherworld Divine Tree, which grows in the endless underworld."
"There is also the Great Chun Sacred Tree that can be five hundred years old as spring and five hundred years old as autumn. The most mysterious one is the 'Taiyin Ancient Tree' mentioned by Wanqing Sect, which is said to be transformed by the Grain God..."
Shuiyue Monk narrated the rare secrets hidden in the pile of old papers.
"The Buddha passed away in this sacred forest of Salo. Look at the two withered and glorious trees. The Buddha was lying in them when he passed into nirvana. This should be a piece of holy land."
Monk Shuiyue said in a deep voice: "The city of Kushinagar was destroyed before Chandragupta established the holy city, and the Buddhist holy land was also buried by the wind and sand. I originally thought that I would never have the opportunity to visit this holy land in my life. , I didn’t expect that someone would secretly move this holy land here with great magic power.”
"Who has such power?"
Qi Wugou was also shocked.
His family is very knowledgeable, and his ancestors were well-educated Confucian scholars in the previous dynasty. Even though the Great You Dynasty strictly prohibited private collection of various unofficial history books, the Qi family also had some knowledge that was passed down orally.
Qi Wugou was still young, so he traveled around to study. Later, by chance, he met Li Cangjue, the lord of Baiyun City. He lived in Baiyun City for a while and read a lot of secret histories of the previous dynasty in the city's library.
Regarding the allusion to the Buddhist city of Kushinagar, he also read this passage at that time:
It is said that the Buddha has profound cultivation and transcends the world. When the Buddha's consciousness itself has been perfected, his retribution in the world has been exhausted, and he will only enter a state of no birth, no death, freedom and no hindrance in the future, he will know that his Nirvana is approaching.
One day, after preaching to a heretic named Subhadra, the Buddha felt that the time was right, so he called his accompanying disciple Ananda and told him that he wanted to enter Nirvana and enter silence.
The Nirvana of Buddhism, the highest level of Buddha's Nirvana, is to enter a supreme realm of no love, no desire, no death and no rebirth, where all troubles have been eliminated, all merits have been perfected, and transcended from the earthly world.
But after Nirvana, he no longer lives in this world. Ananda and other disciples also knew this and were extremely reluctant to give up. They asked the Buddha to stay in this world three times.
The Buddha replied: "You monks, don't worry. If I live in this world for a kalpa, the meeting will also be destroyed. If we stay together, we will never be able to get it. Self-interest and human dharma are all sufficient. If I stay for a long time, it will be of no benefit. I should be able to save it." If all those in heaven and on earth have been saved, those who have not yet been saved have also made the causes and conditions for their salvation. From now on, if my disciples start to practice, then the Tathagata's dharma body will always exist and will not be destroyed..."
Later, the Buddha said: "All living beings have Buddha nature and should be regarded as Buddhas. Only by cutting off the roots of good deeds and attaining enlightenment can they become Buddhas."
At midnight on that day when the moon was full, Buddha passed into nirvana and emerged from the world.
This is an allusion from ancient times, recorded in the very ancient Bayeux Buddhist Sutra. After the Buddha passed away, the King of Kushinara and the Buddha's disciples held a cremation for the Buddha with the most solemn etiquette. After the Buddha's body was burned, the Five Holy Relics were born. For Buddhist disciples, this is a past event that everyone has memorized in the classics.
"The Saraswati forest outside the city of Kushinagar has been the most important sacred place in Buddhism for thousands of years."
Monk Shuiyue said in a solemn tone: "Even after the catastrophe of heaven and man, eminent Buddhist monks often went to the Shaluoshuang Forest to practice. Later, the city of Kushinagar was destroyed by the war, and the Shaluoshuang Forest was also covered by the wind and sand. It is actually the largest place in Buddhism. It’s a pity.”
He sighed: "I thought that I would never have the opportunity to pay homage to this holy place in my life, but I never thought that there would be a peerless person who found the ruins of the Shaluo Shuanglin Forest and used this holy place to pay great tribute. The magic power has moved here... I think it is not difficult to guess the identity of this person, and only the immortal and god-level powerhouse from Buddhism in the Western Regions, Master Ai Hui Padmasambhava, can do it."
"Master Padmasambhava?"
When Qi Wugou heard this, he nodded secretly.
"Indeed, if anyone in the world has this kind of magic power and can do such a thing, this powerful immortal from the Buddhist sect in the Western Region is indeed qualified to do it."
"That's the truth."
Shuiyue Monk took a deep look at the two Salo trees in the middle, and stared at the middle of the two Buddha trees that emitted a faint Buddha light.
The two Salo trees were like twins, but they were later infected by Buddhism and took on different forms of withered glory. There was a strange mark in the center of the two trees, as if someone had been lying on them, leaving a dent.
“The place where the Buddha rests!!!”
Shuiyue Monk said this subconsciously, and his tone was so heavy that even Qi Wugou next to him was suddenly startled.
"Second brother, you must have seen some mystery."
Qi Wuguo asked again.
Shuiyue Monk didn't answer, but just smiled slightly. With a flick of his monk's robe, a ray of Buddha's light floated out and fell on the indentation.
Qi Wugou blinked, and as the Buddha's light flickered, he discovered that there was a blurry figure on the indentation.
It seems to be a monk, lying between the two sacred trees of Salo. His posture is an auspicious Buddhist posture.
According to the Chang Agama Sutra, "At that time, the World-Honored One came from the four-door Sanghali, biting his right armpit like a master-child king, and lay down tired."
This fuzzy shadow of a monk, with silver Buddha light shining all over his body, is lying on his right side. Although his face is blurred, his chest also has a slight rise and fall, as if he is breathing, giving him a vague appearance of sleeping but not sleeping. .
——Look at it as if you are awake, call it as if you are asleep, and travel three thousand worlds while lying down, only then will you realize that this dream is a vacuum.
This phantom of a monk lying on his side gives people the impression that one can understand the supreme principles of heaven and earth while lying down and sleeping.
"Is this Buddha?"
Qi Wugou was shocked.
"No, it's Ai Huilian Peanut."
Shuiyue Monk shook his head.
"Buddha is a person from the ancient times. No matter how powerful his power is, he will not imprint his power on this lying mark. This is the sign of the Lotus and Peanut of Love and Hui. He should be in this double forest of Saras. When you understand the Dharma, you feel it yourself, and it is imprinted on it.”
Suddenly, he smiled.
"This opportunity is rare, third brother... you should also go to bed and try to understand. This Shaluoshuang Forest is a sacred place for Buddhism, and there are signs of enlightenment left by senior masters. If you adapt to this opportunity, maybe you can also gain something."
"However, this is the place where the Buddha reclined after his nirvana and emerged from the world. I am not a member of the Buddhist sect. Isn't it a bit offensive to lie down like this?"
Qi Wugou shook his head.
"It doesn't matter."
Shuiyue Monk laughed.
"My Buddha has always opened the door to expediency. It does not matter whether you are a member of the Buddhist sect or not. My Buddha is compassionate and wants to transform people in the world. Everyone in the world has Buddha nature. Everyone is qualified to listen to the Dharma and understand the principles passed down by the Buddha. .”
He paused for a moment and then continued: "In addition, this place of reclining Buddha has always been a place for eminent monks and great virtues, as well as a place for Buddhist monks to realize Taoism and practice Dharma. There is no more for you, no more for you, no less for you. You can lie down first." Go up!"
Shuiyue Monk waved his hand again, and Qi Wugou felt a push, and was forcefully "pressed" by this invisible force to the center of the Salo tree.
"Second brother, what are you..."
Qi Wugou couldn't help but smile. He also felt Shuiyue Seng's kindness, so he simply closed his eyes and learned the "auspicious lying" posture, lying on his side on the indentation.
After lying down, his mind was immersed in it and began to have feelings. Gradually, deep in his heart, a wonderful feeling emerged. It seemed that everything in the world was like a dream, and in the deepest illusion of all There is also a force that removes the false and preserves the true, breaking all whitewashing and illusion.
I don't know how long it took, but Qi Wugou woke up from his sleep. The moment he woke up, he felt like a "thousand-year dream".
"How about it, third brother?"
Shuiyue Monk only waited for a quarter of an hour. He noticed that Qi Wugou's sleep was only a brief quarter of an hour, but after experiencing this quarter of an hour, this young man exuded a vast aura that was like the vicissitudes of the ages.
"It's like practicing silently for a thousand years in a quarter of an hour!"
He was somewhat surprised.
You must know that the reason why Shuiyue Monk did this was to use this place where the reclining Buddha was to test Qi Wugou, and to find out what other secrets this person had.
It should be noted that this place of the Reclining Buddha contains some of Buddhism’s magical powers to detect falsehoods. If Qi Wugou had been lodged by the Supreme Seed of the Heavenly King, some flaws would have appeared.
Who would have expected that after Qi Wugu lay there for a while, he seemed to have figured out some powerful magical power and secret method.
"Third brother, why don't you answer?"
Shuiyue Monk noticed that Qi Wugou was silent and a little dazed, so he quickly asked another question.
"Sorry, second brother."
Qi Wuga came to his senses, and said in a deep voice: "This place where the reclining Buddha is located is really amazing. I lay there for a while, and I really understood a little Buddhist skill... This should be the Padmasambhava of the time." The true meaning of Buddhism that I understood was transmitted to me through this lying state."
Shuiyue Monk was somewhat stunned when he heard this.
He was just giving it a try. He really didn't expect that Qi Wugou had actually realized something, and it was also a Buddhist magical power derived from the Ai Hui Lotus Peanut.
This kid is really lucky! No wonder he would become the "Eight Masters of the Wind and Cloud" in the future. Even I didn't expect that he would just get a Buddhist magical power from the Lotus of Love and Wisdom.
You must know that the magical power and Buddhism that a powerful immortal like Aihui Lianhuang can casually give to future generations will not be a big deal, and can obtain such benefits... This alone is not worth it to Qi Wugou. All for nothing.
"What magical powers have you discovered?"
Qi Wugu smiled bitterly.
"It's hard to describe in words. If second brother doesn't mind, I can show it so that second brother can experience it for himself."
"good."
Shuiyue Monk didn't care and nodded.
Qi Wugou stretched out a finger and tapped it lightly in the air, and bursts of distorted light swayed out.
This should also be Buddha's light, but the color of its light transcends all colors in the world. When it falls on Shuiyue Monk, a wonderful scene happens.
"What kind of supernatural power is this?"
Shuiyue Monk immediately realized something was wrong. He found that his senses were accelerating. To put it simply, when he was illuminated by this twisted light, his consciousness became extremely fast, and it seemed that everything around him began to change. It had to be slow, and the whole world came to a standstill.
He stared blankly at everything in front of him. Qi Wugou seemed to have pressed the pause button and stopped in front of him, like a clay statue.
Shui Yue Monk's own body was motionless as well, as if suppressed by a huge force. Everything in his eyes, including the objects in the Saloshuang Forest, was also immersed in an absolute stillness.
It's not that he is still, but that his thinking is too active. Unfortunately, in this state, he cannot control his puppet body.
"Is this consciousness... adjusted?"
"This magical power can make my perception thousands of times faster. Because it is too fast, it causes time to slow down in my perception..."
"Is this a magical power that Ai Hui Liansheng learned in the past? What kind of ghost trick is this?"
Shuiyue Monk has always maintained this state. Everything around him is still. He cannot move or open his mouth to speak. He only has consciousness, as if he is trapped in a prison where time has stopped, feeling silently like a stone. With this world.
Suddenly, the accelerating consciousness stopped.
It was Qi Wugou who stopped. He removed the strange and distorted brilliance, and Shui Yue Monk was also relieved of that strange state.
His eyes were filled with shock.
"This is the magical power of Buddhism given by Padmasambhava. What is the name of this method?"
Shuiyue Monk broke away from that state, and the shock in his heart could not be greater. He had vaguely felt the threat of this magical power. Even though Qi Wugou's magical power is not strong, the strange light condensed on his fingertips has a terrible impact on his consciousness, and it is very likely that this move will also be effective on the powerful ones!
"This magical power can be called 'One Thought for a Thousand Years'!"
Qi Wugou replied calmly: "In one thought, a thousand years can pass by, and all things are silent. This magical power of Buddhism is prepared for Buddhist disciples who study Buddhism diligently, to help them realize all things in the time and space when heaven and earth are silent." The principle of impermanence...Of course, if you use this method to fight the enemy, the benefits will be endless!"
