Written on the Last Day of 2024
At some special time points, people tend to have more feelings.
In addition, the book is already halfway through, so I decided to take advantage of this special night to chat with you more and make an overall summary of the past three years since the book was published.
In fact, there is a word that is very appropriate for Revolver - it seems like a lifetime ago.
From the night when the first chapter was published with trepidation, it was far from possible to foresee this moment.
But it must be said that the serialization of this book provides Revolver with an unprecedented way to examine time, and also makes him feel the meaning of companionship more personally.
Thank you for your company, and I am fortunate to accompany you.
More than one book friend asked if Revolver is a writer.
In fact, not. Revolver is engaged in a very ordinary industry and does a job to make a living.
I rarely help others, and I don’t think I have created much value.
I went to school for science and engineering, and I was also very confused about the college entrance examination essay, but I read more miscellaneous books from small books.
Then one day many years later, when I accidentally thought about my life, I suddenly thought that I could write a story.
Giving a group of virtual characters a cognitive meaning of existence is a very cool thing to think about. I even have inexplicable confidence that I can do it well.
Then this special period began, until now.
Let's get back to the topic, back to the book itself. The first question I want to talk about the most is-
1. What is this book about? Is it a "cool article"?
This should be a question for book friends to discuss, so here Revolver just changes the angle and provides a reference for "what is being written".
Yes, this is a cool article-because the original intention of writing this book is to write the coolest article.
Tragedy is not a necessity for depth.
Although Revolver has seen too many tragic stories, he is more certain of this.
Depth and rationality are not reasons. "It's unpleasant to read" has no direct relationship with whether the story is good or not.
This also includes the popularity.
Writing miserably and obscurely is often a lazy approach. A truly cool and interesting story must also be profound.
Otherwise, it is not really cool and interesting, but a clumsy illusion.
Readers spend energy to follow the plot, sort out the logic, and feel the characters. The first thing they get should be fun, and it is an absolutely indispensable component.
Revolver has read too much, and is tired of preaching, pretending to be profound, and moral kidnapping... He wants to make the story purer.
That is, you don’t need others to tell you how profound the story is, what kind of humanistic care it has, what kind of artistic achievements it has...
What Revolver wants to do is to make it interesting even if all of the above are available.
Online literature is a service industry, and readers are not part of the play.
If you can’t do it, then do it harder, no matter how many more brain cells you have to spend.
Storytellers should not use tears to shirk responsibilities, whether it is their own or the readers’.
And the best situation that Revolver hopes to achieve is that many years later, when readers of this book occasionally think of themselves when they opened this book when they were young, they will not feel that their emotions are being used, but that their emotions are being served.
At the same time, they can also say "It’s me" and be proud of their own vision.
But on this basis, there is a problem, what kind of story is the coolest and most exciting?
Revolver is a serious person. After having this goal, he spent a considerable amount of time thinking about it and hoped that he could have a unique insight.
And he really got a possible answer, which is "turning the impossible into the possible" in the introduction.
The copy [Unclean Ecstasy] mentioned what is the real fall, that is, you must realize that you are falling, and so is "cool".
People can't deceive themselves. A thing must be really difficult, and it will be really cool after it is completed.
It is far more "cool" than the recognition of others.
This is also the answer to the following question-
2. Why is it the Ksitigarbha system?
Because it requires a world that is "difficult" and reasonable.
First of all, in Revolver's one-sided understanding, the Ksitigarbha system is not as simple as a few obscure names of superiors or a deformed non-human race.
It is not even a simple "indescribable".
A core concept of Luo Lao's work, in Revolver's view, is that the universe is not your mother.
Human beings are standing alone under the starry sky.
God does not love you, and the devil does not hate you.
The whole world is patched up and flashy.
People who have different levels of knowledge have corresponding cognitions of the world, which are superimposed layer by layer, but they never know the real truth.
Order is just a fleeting glimpse, and equal exchange is already a rare virtue.
The dilemma will become very reasonable.
Then the next question arises-
3. Why is the protagonist like this?
Because it seems that there is no cool story in the world of K.
Why?
Because it is too chaotic and cruel, despair should be the main theme. Departing from this tone will make people feel unreal and unreasonable-then try to make it reasonable.
But what if it still doesn't work?
Then keep trying.
But really no one can do it, unless it's a madman.
Then come a madman.
It's hard for people to like a madman.
Then try to make people like him.
- This is the responsibility of the storyteller.
The above questions and answers are the embodiment of Revolver's self-torture, but strictly speaking, even if the protagonist is a madman, it is far from enough to make the "cool story" reasonable.
In the real world of Krishna, going crazy is nothing but self-indulgence, and self-sympathy is a cowardly act.
It takes a "real man" who is strong-willed enough to disdain going crazy, conceited enough to use knowledge and logic to understand the "unspeakable", and never give up.
Until the reader believes that he can really do it in such despair.
And this is just the most basic. The whole process of doing it must be interesting and cool, so cool that it is a "cool article", and all the depths are hidden under the ultimate principle of "making people happy to read".
This is the most ideal state that Revolver thinks of, although it is not easy to achieve.
But self-torture and arms race are what the author should do, instead of forcing people to accept that the world is like this and the story should be like this.
Then go a step further-
4. Why is it a unit drama?
Because it is a perfect match.
Complex background, conspiracy, foreshadowing, will make the story exciting, and it is also very suitable for the world of Krishna.
But if it follows the normal linear narrative, the above will lead to an inevitable disadvantage, that is, each plot is unclear and incomplete.
The form of unit drama just complements this point, using naturally complete stories to complete the description of the whole world.
The background of the K-series is naturally compatible with fragmented narratives, and the infinite flow unit drama of online literature is a perfect match for Revolver.
When he realized this, Revolver was a little confused. It seems that few people have done this.
Of course, this doubt soon had an answer - it is far from easy to do.
The above content is Revolver's explanation of "why it is written like this".
The reason for saying this is actually very simple - I don't want to emphasize any hard work, but I hope to make everyone believe that Revolver made efforts to be reasonable before the story was presented.
Then enjoy the fun of "cool writing" without any psychological burden, without any moral pressure.
Because Revolver has helped to go deep.
In addition, there are some questions that everyone often asks.
5. Why choose such a name?
More than one book friend has complained that the name of this book is really a failure. In fact, this is already a revised version.
When I first published the book, I wanted to call it "Looking at the Evil God for a Whole Year", and I didn't mean to deliberately take advantage of the popularity of the book.
I found a correct version on the 16-9 book forum!
After a while, it was rejected by the review.
Later, I provided the outline as required, and it was rejected again.
Later, I changed it to this name, but it was still rejected.
Later, I troubled the editor Ziliang, and it was solved with his help.
The tortuous process is of course not much different in essence. The main purpose is to explain that in the title of the book, Revolver really hopes to be simple and straightforward.
The story is the same. It does not deliberately pull emotions, nor pretend to be profound. The way to complete the task is sorted out in the most straightforward way, so that everyone can see it clearly to the greatest extent, although this means that it needs to undergo a more intensive review.
6. Is there an outline? How many words?
Yes, but not much. The outline plus the basic settings are about 60,000 words, which depends more on on-the-spot performance.
However, Revolver has a word file for this book, named "Ten Whys Every Day". When I think of fun ideas or interesting questions, I will write them down and ask and answer them myself.
Now it has been split into four.
The reason is that after the old laptop was upgraded last year, it was very slow to open and input files with hundreds of thousands of words. I had to open a new file, and then I found that the upper limit of the slowdown was about 70,000 words, so I opened it again.
I looked at the word counts of each file so far, which are 442,000, 75,000, 70,000, and 6,000 respectively, with a total of less than 600,000.
I hope this number can help to prove the above sentence, "Revolver has helped deeply."
7. Why is there a percentage for task loading? Is it to increase the word count?
In fact, careful book friends may find that the loading progress numbers of several tasks in the middle are a bit strange.
Because the initial loading progress was indeed intended to form a standard format, but later Revolver felt that it was a bit monotonous, so he wanted to make a different series of questions for each task to help careful book friends miss math class:-D
But later, I didn't have enough energy, so I just kept the standard format.
8. How are the results? Have you done any promotion?
I am ashamed to say that this book has not done any free or paid promotion so far, including but not limited to book lists, recommended book numbers, monthly tickets, etc.
It has been relying on the tap water recommendation of book friends until now.
Why do I say ashamed? Because for a long time, this was considered to be Revolver's active choice, which originated from some taken-for-granted principles of newcomers.
For example, the story should be pure, the author should try to be invisible, and the fun of reading should not be changed by any off-site factors, and family affairs should not be talked about too much.
For example, the results should also be pure, and you can confidently say in any case that you don't rely on the power of promotion.
Even if you don't want too much pressure, it will make the update more unsmooth...
However, from a while ago, Revolver realized that this was problematic-too taken-for-granted and selfish.
Now is an era of sharing. The joy of reading is not limited to the story itself, but also about finding resonance.
It is a very good feeling to have something you like recognized and then find people who share the same interests. As a game player, Revolver knows this very well.
In fact, this is also the spiritual appeal that humans have always had, and the information age has magnified it even more. For example, even if you have already watched a movie, you will occasionally remember to watch it again with barrage.
In essence, Revolver's disregard for promotion and some unnecessary principles have actually hurt the fans of this book, greatly reducing everyone's enjoyment in this regard.
Only a few people can see the carefully written analysis, and only a few people resonate with the emotions that burst out when reading.
In particular, this book actually consumes more brain power to read, and the final result is that more effort is spent, and the investment and return are not proportional.
Even forced self-doubt, or even self-denial.
Some book friends have sent me screenshots, and I have seen it myself. A rhetorical question that often appears in the comment area-if there is no problem with this book, why can't it be seen on the monthly ticket list?
It is indeed difficult to refute, and the power of heartbreak is quite strong.
Reading itself is a very subjective thing. Using quantifiable data to compare is fair to some extent.
So facing such a question, many book friends may not help but think - is there really a problem?
No story can withstand such a question.
And being forced to deny something you like, or even doubting your past likes, is a very painful feeling, and Revolver also knows this.
Perhaps the author has narcissistic self-confidence, but he cannot ask book friends to be the same.
Not to mention that in addition to the promotion problem, some negative effects of this book are too numerous to list.
Including but not limited to newcomers, new books, few updates, frequent leave, and discontinuation of recommended positions...
For a long time, the comment area was not managed, so that some book friends angrily said that they would not post any comments again...
The story mode determines that the proportion of raising books is extremely high, and the recommendation of Qidian is almost entirely determined by follow-up reading...
The lazy chapter name, although the original intention is lazy, it is indeed hoped that everyone can lock in the copy more easily, but the follow-up reading data is inevitably discounted, and even worse than pure numbers...
The above is not to find excuses. In summary, it is still a sentence - it is not that everyone has a problem with taste, but the responsibility lies with Revolver. The debuffs are stacked up in a large row, which greatly affects the results.
In short, the author thought too simply and self-satisfied during the creation of this book.
And now Revolver has decided to take on more responsibilities.
Read carefully and analyze with energy, because book friends who smile knowingly at interesting places should not suffer any extra grievances.
As the person in charge of this story and this fun, Revolver will take out part of the income of this book so far to do some promotional activities.
And the first step has been made clear, which is to complete the lv4 out-of-circle achievement on the starting point.
This book has entered the second half, and doing so may not have a good effect, but after completion, at least 20 more fan titles can be added each month, and the expenses spent can be returned to the book friends to the greatest extent.
In addition, because one of the requirements for out-of-circle achievements is interaction between readers.
So here Revolver would like to ask everyone to give a thumbs up to the wonderful comments and attentive interpretations while reading.
If possible, please leave your own opinions, and there is no limit on the comments in the comment area of this book.
If you have anything you want to say to Revolver, you are also welcome to leave a message at any time, and Revolver will answer all of them as soon as possible.
Sharing is a very happy thing. Revolver deeply realized this in the process of writing this book. I hope that book friends will not miss such fun in reading.
Every bit of your support will help the story enter a virtuous circle.
Revolver thanks again.
