【Remarks on the 1st Anniversary of Serialization】
(????)??Hi! Duomo! This is Shumengshi, an amateur novelist who has been staying at home for a long time and is about to get moldy!
Let me tell you something that you may not have noticed, that is, today is exactly the 1st anniversary of the serialization of this book!
On March 28, 2019, I submitted the first 3 chapters of this book with a nervous mood, and officially started my journey as an amateur novelist.
After a long time, it has been serialized for 1 year.
It’s incredible to think about it. Before starting the serialization, I was always doubting myself-can I write this book well? Can I stick to it?
In a blink of an eye, a year has passed. I never thought that I would actually stick to it. I insisted on serializing for a whole year, updating for 365 consecutive days, and never stopped. As of today, I have written a full 2.285 million words, an average of 6260 words a day.
As a newcomer, I feel that it is quite rare to be so diligent (laughs).
Today is the birthday of this book. Since it is the birthday, I plan to give this book a holiday. Today, I will only update 2 chapters~~ That is to say, today's main text update has ended. Now, all you can read is this one-year anniversary speech.
Looking back, the serialization of this book has really gone through twists and turns.
The most difficult period for the serialization of this book was when I was writing the third volume, that is, when I was serializing the "Summer Wind" offensive.
And that happened to be the time when I was most diligent. I updated more than 10,000 words a day. In July 2019, I updated nearly 300,000 words.
At that time, the performance of this book was so bad that I couldn't bear to look at it. At the worst time, I updated 4 chapters a day, but there were only 10 new subscriptions.
There were no new readers, and the old readers seemed to be no longer reading the book. I don't know if they gave up or raised it.
That period was really difficult. Think about it-it was the most hardworking and diligent period, but it was the period with the worst performance.
I made the greatest effort, but got the worst results-this feeling is the most discouraging.
I actually thought about it many times at that time - should I give up this book and start a new series?
I really thought about this question many times at that time.
But in the end, I chose to stick to it.
There are many reasons for choosing to stick to it:
I don't want to disappoint the only readers of this book.
I haven't thought about the outline of the next work yet.
I have written so much, it would be a pity to give it up.
However, the main reason is that I have feelings for the characters in this book.
Su Cheng and his story have not been finished yet, and I want to finish their story - it is this belief that made me stick to it.
But fortunately, my persistence was not in vain, and the book gradually got out of the predicament.
In the late stage of Volume 3, for some reason, new readers finally came.
There are new readers coming continuously, and some old readers with familiar IDs have also returned one after another, and the performance of this book has finally improved little by little.
When serializing Volume 3, the collections of Qidian.com and QQ Bookstore added up to less than 1,000.
Now, the collections of Qidian.com and QQ Bookstore added up to more than 6,000.
Although in terms of performance, this book cannot be compared with those books that have received a lot of recommendations and have tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of collections, I am still very satisfied to be able to achieve such results with just such a small amount of resources (from the serialization of this book to now, I have only received 4 recommendation positions, and 3 of them are the kind of recommendation positions that you can never find if you don’t look for them seriously).
I no longer think about whether to abandon this book. Now I only think about how to write this book better.
The later this book is, the more difficult it is to write, because there are more and more characters and the stage is getting bigger and bigger.
Volume 7 "New World" is actually just a transitional volume,
not a very difficult and important volume to write.
Volume 8 - "Patriotic War" is the biggest test since I started serializing it.
Although I haven't started writing "Patriotic War" yet, I know that this volume is definitely the most difficult one to write.
Michael, Gabriel, Raziel, Uriel - the four major knights of the Britannia Empire, as well as the navy fleet and the private soldiers of the great nobles all participated in the Patriotic War to fight against the Nibelungen Plan of the Frankish Empire.
Not only the Frankish Empire, but also the Holy Hilan Empire got involved.
The situation was so bad that even Kerol had to go to the front line to boost morale.
The scene was so grand that I didn't know if I could write it well.
But no matter how difficult it was to write, I could only do my best.
The more difficult the plot was, the more I had to write it, because only in this way could my writing ability be improved.
After writing "Patriotic War", my writing ability and plot control ability might be able to reach a higher level (laughs).
Well, when I write here, I don't know what to write next. I'll just write this for the first anniversary.
This book has been successfully serialized for 365 consecutive days. I will continue my persistence and perseverance to write this book better.
Finally, let me end with a poem I like very much. This poem also appeared in the remarks for the book’s launch:
"Climbing the Mountain" by Tang Bohu, Ming Dynasty.
Climbing up, up, up, up to the top of the mountain.
Looking up, the red sun and white clouds are low, and the four seas and five lakes are all in sight.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the book friends who have supported this book over the past year.
