Chapter 8 Cat Breeder
"Meow~ meow meow, meow~" (Don't get excited, kid, you and I are the same kind of people, we call ourselves Animagus.)
Professor McGonagall turned into a tabby cat again and explained it to Fish again.
"Meow, meow, meow?" (My name is McGonagall, Minerva McGonagall, what about you?)
"Meow, meow!" (My name is Fish, and I'm not a human!)
Fish was very excited to see McGonagall become a human like himself, but when she claimed to be a human and classified him as a human, Fish was not very happy.
I am not the kind of human without sharp teeth and claws, and with very little hair on my body.
"Meow~" (Poor child...)
Professor McGonagall certainly didn't know that Fish was telling the truth. She thought he had lived with wild cats since he was a child and had completely forgotten his identity.
After all, although similar things are rare, they are not unheard of. Discoveries such as wolf children and monkey children have appeared all over the world.
Noticing that Fish had become somewhat impatient from the initial closeness, Professor McGonagall did not continue to argue with Fish on this issue.
"Meow, meow?" (So, Fish, are you hungry?)
"Meow! Meow~Meow~Meow!" (I'm starving! I was going to catch an owl, but it turned out to be a human, and then it came with another white-bearded human to catch me!)
Speaking of this, Fish was very angry. If you want to become a human, just change it. At most, he can go to other places to find food. Why do you have to chase me? It's so annoying!
"Meow~" (You wait here, I'll get you food.)
Professor McGonagall rubbed his head against Fish, then changed back to human form and walked out the door.
"Meow?"
Fish tilted his head and watched Professor McGonagall leave, and then carefully observed the room.
Except for stealing fish from Evans's shop, Fish rarely entered human houses. He walked around the infirmary twice, then returned to the bed and lay down on the white pillow.
Fish swung the tip of his tail slightly, and his eyes narrowed comfortably.
It turns out that humans have such good things besides food. No wonder many of their kind like to stay with humans.
Just as Fish was enjoying the softness of the pillow, Professor McGonagall pushed open the door and walked in with a silver plate, which was filled with roasted chicken, fried fish, and a bowl of pumpkin juice.
"Meow!"
Fish, who was taking a nap on the pillow, smelled the fragrance, stood up suddenly, jumped onto the table, and eagerly turned back and forth in front of Professor McGonagall who had already walked to the table, with a little head raised high, but his eyes were always on the plate in Professor McGonagall's hand.
"Don't worry, little guy."
Professor McGonagall, who was always serious, was smiling at this time. She happily stretched out her hand and touched Fish's little head.
Because the other party could also turn into a cat, Fish did not resist Professor McGonagall's touch as before. Instead, he put his two front paws on Professor McGonagall's robe and shouted anxiously.
"Meow~Meow~Meow~"
"Eat, eat, but it will be more convenient to eat these things in human form."
Professor McGonagall did not intend to continue teasing Fish, and put the plate on the table.
In fact, Fish could understand what Professor McGonagall was saying. Even ordinary cats can understand some human languages, not to mention Fish, a cat druid optimized by the Heart of Nature.
But he understood it, and Fish, who preferred his furry body, pretended not to hear it, and pounced on the roast chicken with full momentum and feasted on it.
Biting the roast chicken hard, Fish tore off a piece of meat from it with some effort, and then gently shook his little head, borrowing inertia and tongue to send the chicken to the back teeth, chewing it a few times before swallowing it into his stomach.
"Meow~"
After swallowing the chicken, Fish narrowed his eyes and purred with satisfaction from his throat.
Compared to raw meat, these foods that have been cooked and processed by humans are more delicious, but unfortunately, most humans choose raw food or relatively bland food when feeding themselves.
Thinking about it this way, it seems that being mistaken for humans and that Animagus is actually not bad?
Fish shook his ears, and such an idea suddenly popped up in his mind, but he soon put his attention back on the food in front of him.
Why bother with so much, just fill your stomach first!
He first stretched out his tongue to lick the meat residue that just fell from his mouth to the table, and then Fish continued to bite the roast chicken.
Seeing that Fish was still eating according to the habits of a cat, Professor McGonagall was not in a hurry. Instead, he waited for Fish to swallow most of the roast chicken and began to lick his paws and wash his face before he stretched out his hand to tear off a small piece of meat from the roast chicken, slowly put it into his mouth, and then took a sip of pumpkin juice on the side.
After completing these demonstrations, Professor McGonagall smiled and repeated what she had just said to Fish in cat language.
Fish tilted his head and looked at Professor McGonagall for a while, then continued to lick his paws and wash his face.
You said it well, but I won't listen.
As a little kitten, Fish is so willful!
Professor McGonagall also knew that this matter could not be rushed. She just stroked Fish's back and smiled as she watched the child rub his face with his little paws...
Then when Fish lowered his head to lick a special place on himself, Professor McGonagall stretched out her palm to block his head.
"Meow?"
Looking at Fish's puzzled look, Professor McGonagall twitched her mouth.
As expected, we still have to help this child return to normal human living habits as soon as possible.
...
"Are you sure you want to adopt this child, Minerva?"
Dumbledore wiped his half-moon glasses, put them back on his nose, and asked Professor McGonagall seriously.
"I can contact other wizard families, and they will surely be happy to adopt Fish."
"But they can't communicate with Fish normally like me, right? And, Albus, don't you think that child and I are very destined?"
Professor McGonagall was referring to Fish's cat form, which was silver tabby like her.
"Since you insist, I have no reason to stop you..."
Dumbledore sighed. He was not worried that Professor McGonagall would neglect her work at Hogwarts because of Fish, so he took the initiative to suggest: "Then, do you need me to find another house in Hogsmeade?"
In fact, Professor McGonagall herself owns a small villa in Hogsmeade, which was bought by her husband for her convenience in working at Hogwarts. Unfortunately, not long after they got married, Professor McGonagall's husband Elphinstone Urquhart died accidentally because of a bite from a poisonous tentacle.
Professor McGonagall couldn't stand staying alone in their villa, so after Elphinstone's funeral, she packed up and returned to Hogwarts, and the villa was sealed and not used again.
Dumbledore knew Professor McGonagall's past and understood the pain she was suffering, so he didn't consider giving Fish to Professor McGonagall to raise before.
"You know, Albus, I have a property in Hogsmeade."
Professor McGonagall smiled and declined Dumbledore's kindness.
"I see... Then, Comey."
Sighing again, Dumbledore did not persuade him again, but called the house-elf from before.
"Maybe you will need a house-elf to look after the child Fish when you are not at home."
Professor McGonagall did not refuse Dumbledore's kindness this time. As the vice-principal of Hogwarts and the dean of Gryffindor, her work at Hogwarts is still quite heavy, and she really needs someone to look after Fish for her.
As a cat Animagus, and having been close to cats since childhood, Minerva McGonagall knows very well how strong these furry little guys are in causing trouble.
There are a lot of things going on recently, so I can only update twice a week on weekends. I will have to go on a long trip next month, so I can't even guarantee twice a week on weekends. Please bear with me.
I'll be fine when I come back from abroad...if I don't run into any other problems...
...
The contract has been sent out, so hurry up if you want to get the bargain.
