The Rise of Malfoy at Hogwarts

Chapter 47 Black Magic Book

Since the day Sherin got the wand at Ollivander's, he discovered that his wand had an amplifying effect on the casting of dark magic.

He still remembered that he learned the first dark magic in his life, the "Snot Curse" in his first year. Originally, this curse could create an effect similar to the malignant flu, causing the recipient to sneeze constantly or have tears and runny noses; but Sherin used it to make people fall ill directly, causing Dobby, the experimental subject, to faint due to excessive runny noses. Fortunately, Sherin had already prepared a stimulant, otherwise Dobby would not be able to get out of bed without lying in bed for a few days.

Although he was born to learn dark magic, Sherin did not intend to become a powerful dark wizard. He studied the dark magic book to make himself have a more comprehensive understanding of magic, rather than learning the partial knowledge that was harmonized by the Ministry of Magic and Dumbledore.

Schelling is well aware of the harm that learning and performing black magic can do to one's soul. Performing black magic requires evil thoughts as a basis, which gives black magic the characteristics of addictive substances in the Muggle world. Every time black magic is performed, it can vent the evil thoughts and evil thoughts in people's hearts, dig out the darkest corners hidden in people's hearts, and over time, the character and soul will be distorted, becoming more and more violent and uncontrollable.

This is not Schelling's false saint. The importance of the soul to a wizard is common sense for every wizard. Once the soul is corrupted and distorted, it will sooner or later be backfired by black magic.

This is also the biggest difference between the two generations of Dark Lords, Grindelwald and Riddle.

Grindelwald used black magic to reform the wizarding world and achieve his ideals. In his heart, he believed that he was the righteous party, although many innocent people were inevitably hurt in the process. Riddle used black magic for his own selfish desires. He didn't want to be an unknown person. He wanted the whole world to know his name. For this reason, he specially named himself "Voldemort" and cursed this name, so that people dared not even mention it. He also organized Death Eaters and created the Dark Mark, all of which were to create and spread terror for his own reputation.

This made Voldemort end up with a tragic ending in the original plot - his soul was too twisted, so he was restrained and defeated by "pure love" again and again. There are still many unsolved mysteries in the magic world, such as love and cause and effect. Schelling didn't want to be restrained by these mysterious forces inexplicably one day.

Let's talk about the three black magic books.

Among them, the book "Fallen Creatures" actually records the creation of Dementors and various secrets. Dementors are a kind of "non-being" in a state of neither life nor death. They do not reproduce, but grow like fungi in decay. In addition, Dementors cannot be eliminated by any magic and can only be driven away by the Patronus Charm.

(Note: Non-existence is actually a collection of emotions. There are currently four known examples. Please refer to the chapter "Non-animal Magical Creatures" in the related works)

You may ask, since Dementors will not die and cannot be eliminated by magic, why can't the growing number of Dementors rule the wizarding world? That's because although Dementors cannot be eliminated, they can be killed by creating a special environment. Dementors feed on despair, and sucking away people's happy emotions is just a means of creating despair. If they are in an environment where they can't find any despair to replenish their energy, then Dementors will die by themselves.

(Note: This is the official setting of Dementors. Rowling designed Dementors based on depression. The magic that can kill Dementors is fan-made.)

The first person to discover how to drive Dementors was the dark wizard Raczidian in the Middle Ages. The exact period in which Raczidian lived is unknown. It is only known that it was before the establishment of the Wizard Council (the predecessor of the Ministry of Magic). At that time, the wizarding world adhered to the law of the jungle that the strong are respected and the weak are preyed upon by the strong, so he could study and use dark magic openly.

He discovered the secret of Dementors by chance and worked out how to mass-produce Dementors - he built a secret room full of darkness and decay in his dark fortress, allowing Dementors to continue to breed in this environment.

He also created a unique driving method that could control the Dementors to burn, kill and plunder the wizard village near the castle. After being blocked by a young man named Elius with the Patronus Charm, he also tried to imitate the other party's use of the Patronus Charm, intending to restrain the other party's Patronus.

Unfortunately, he didn't know that one of the conditions for releasing the Patronus Charm is to have a pure heart of protection. As a result, he was backfired by his own spell - his wand summoned a group of overwhelming and densely packed man-eating flies, which devoured his own body in a blink of an eye.

Schelling's biggest gain is the method of driving Dementors. If it is operated properly, Schelling will gain a considerable help.

Schelling also found a very useful potion formula in the book "Dark Potion" - the magic potion. Magic-enhancing potions are forbidden to be made in the international magic community because the raw materials required involve dark biological materials, and the process of taking them also involves a very high risk, because as long as there is any deviation in the refining process, the user may die from a magical riot.

After taking this potion, the body will experience short-term discomfort, such as fever, weakness, blood dilation, and accelerated heartbeat. It requires a certain degree of endurance to endure the pain. This is because the potion is catalyzing the magic potential contained in the blood, intensifying it into active magic that can be used. As long as you endure these dozens of minutes of torture, you can achieve a significant increase in magic.

Xie Lin has long encountered a bottleneck in magic research due to his lack of magic power. How to enhance his own magic power has always been the top priority in his mind.

You know, Xie Lin, who is well-read, has no lack of magic theory knowledge, but because of the limitation of magic power, he can't use most of the magic. If he overcomes the problem of magic power, he can cast many powerful magics that consume a lot of energy, and his strength will step onto another level.

The preparation of the magic enhancement potion is not difficult. The biggest problem in refining it is that the raw materials it needs are all very precious and rare. The rarest and most difficult to obtain raw material in the formula of the magic enhancement potion is the venom of the basilisk.

This raw material is the biggest challenge for others, but it is not a problem for Schelling at all. Schelling had already collected a large number of precious materials from the snake monster corpses in the Battle of the Chamber of Secrets. The stock of snake venom is enough for him to refine several bottles of magic enhancement potions.

Unfortunately, due to the toxicity contained in the magic enhancement potion, each wizard can only take one bottle in his lifetime. This restriction did not surprise Schelling. After all, the magic enhancement potion uses the toxicity of snake venom to stimulate the magic potential in the blood. No matter how successful the refining is, there will definitely be toxicity left, but under the content limit of a bottle of potion, the toxicity is not enough to cause harm to the human body.

Other materials are not easy to obtain. One of them is a Class A prohibited trade item. Schelling plans to try his luck in the black market in Knockturn Alley. If it doesn't work, he can only think of Snape's laboratory.

As for the remaining materials, he asked Dobby to help him buy and collect them from major pharmacies. At the end of last semester, Schelling made a lot of money by selling spider venom and basilisk skin and flesh. Even so, he spent most of his savings to buy the materials needed for the magic potion, leaving only 1,000 gold galleons for emergency use.

(Note: The cost of the raw materials for the magic potion is about 200 galleons without counting the basilisk venom and the phantom smell grass. The above cost is not just to buy the raw materials for refining a magic potion. After all, the probability of failure in the preparation of this ancient prescription is very high, so it is reasonable to buy more than ten copies as a backup)

"Abatail Volume 1" is the book that surprised Schelling the most among the three books. Abatail covers almost all the magic fields in the magic world, from spells, magic, transfiguration, spells, enchantments, curses, spirits, and souls. It's a pity that this book was divided into eight volumes because of a war in the Middle Ages and was lost everywhere.

The book in Schelling's hand can only be regarded as a fragment of one of the eight volumes, and most of the content in it is mental magic. From this, it can be inferred that the third-generation ancestor of the Malfoy family, Armand II Malfoy, must have obtained this book by chance and gained inspiration from it to create the Malfoy family spells, because many of the mental magic that Schelling learned from the Malfoy family spells can be found in this book.

Although this book cannot allow Schelling to learn any spells or improve his strength again in the short term, it can allow Schelling to have a deeper and more solid understanding of the essence of mental magic theory. In the long run, this is more valuable than learning a new spell.

Then, Schelling also took out the secret spells of the Malfoy family and re-studied them. Sure enough, after reading "Abatyr Volume 1", his understanding of the family spells increased to a higher level, and he successfully discovered the true inheritance of the Malfoy family - mental magic.

Armand II Malfoy was a natural telepath and an expert in mental magic. His natural and powerful mental power was integrated into his bloodline and passed on to his descendants after his death. This explains why Sherin, who activated his bloodline power, could easily learn advanced mental magic.

Malfoy's family heirloom spells include many extremely ancient mental spells that have never been heard of by the outside world. Many of them are forbidden spells in the category of black magic. Their power can even be compared with the Imperius Curse, one of the three unforgivable spells, such as Legilimency, God Seeding, God Stealing, Hypnotic, Memory Control, Gaze of Fear... These spells make people feel extremely evil and terrible just by hearing the names.

This makes Sherin curious. Why did such a powerful spell never appear in the Malfoy family in the original book? Moreover, the Malfoy family has such a powerful heritage. Why do they still need to humbly submit to Voldemort? Schelling could only infer that perhaps because of the loss of blood power, the descendants of Malfoy became more and more dependent on conspiracy and intrigue, and attached importance to politics and business, thus neglecting the inheritance of magic.

Such examples are not unique to the Malfoy family. As far as Schelling knows, the great Slytherin was truly proficient in the serpentine spells that relied on the pronunciation of serpent language. Without the serpentine talent inherited from the Slytherin bloodline, it is impossible to learn it. After the Slytherin bloodline withered, the serpentine magic was also lost.
