Chapter 148 The Only Family
Sherlock's words made the scene silent.
Black gritted his teeth and said.
"Harry lives well at his aunt's house. He doesn't need to know my existence. James and Lily's death is related to me. I am not worthy of being his godfather!"
"If he lived well there, he wouldn't want to go to Hogsmeade and take the secret passage, and finally be caught by Snape." Sherlock said calmly.
Black stared at him.
"What do you mean?"
"His aunt and uncle didn't sign the consent form for him to leave school, because Harry is an alien in their eyes, an alien who can do magic, is incompatible with them, and is also the most hated Potter family."
At this time, even Lupin looked at Sherlock.
"Harry lives badly there?"
"At least he has food and shelter." Sherlock said lightly, "Although he didn't give him any family warmth, he didn't starve to death on the streets."
Sirius and Lupin both heard the meaning of his words. Harry's living standard at his aunt's house was just enough to prevent him from wandering the streets.
"Bang!"
Black slammed his fist on the desk, he said angrily.
"That's her sister's son!"
Sherlock looked into his eyes.
"I don't deny that Harry's aunt's family did a lot, but you have to ask yourself, what was Harry's father's attitude towards them? Or why did they treat Harry like this?"
Sherlock went to learn some things about why Harry's aunt's family had such a hostile attitude towards Harry during the summer vacation last year.
The Dursleys didn't hate the wizard group, but when they got along with Harry's father, they left them with a very bad impression.
Since then, the two families have completely broken up and never contacted each other (also mixed with Petunia's jealousy of Lily becoming a wizard).
After that, Harry came to their house, and they transferred such emotions to the young Harry.
The Dursleys' behavior was very bad, but James Potter was also a big problem at the time.
Sirius and Lupin fell silent again. They were James' childhood playmates, so they naturally knew what kind of personality he had, and they were only slightly better than the more extreme Sirius himself.
"So, even if it's not for yourself, you have to think about Harry." Sherlock sat on the chair, looked at them and said, "He may not need your care, but he needs the affection of a family."
Sirius stood there blankly. He had the courage to despise death, but Sherlock's words made him hesitate.
If it was really as he said, then Harry would only have him as a legal relative besides his aunt's family. After all, when he was just born, he and Sirius had established a godfather and godson relationship.
Sherlock sat on the chair and drank tea leisurely, waiting for Sirius to make a decision.
After a long time, he slowly raised his head and said.
"Can I see him up close?"
Sherlock shrugged.
"Every weekend evening, he comes to me to learn the Patronus Charm. If you want to see him, you can come to me, but it's up to you to decide whether to recognize him or not."
"I can't recognize him before Peter is caught." Sirius shook his head and said, "Only when everything is settled can I let him know my existence. If he knows these things, there will definitely be problems."
"You know his character very well."
"After escaping from Azkaban, I secretly observed him for a while behind his back."
Sherlock got up from the chair.
"In this case, then you should turn into an Animagus and follow me. I will take you to Professor McGonagall to report, at least to let other people in the school know your existence."
Things were temporarily settled.
Sirius turned into a dog again. After Sherlock changed his breed with magic, he took him to find Professor McGonagall.
"You want to keep this dog in Hogwarts?" Professor McGonagall frowned at Sirius in his Animagus form, and could see that she was not very fond of dogs.
Sherlock explained.
"This dog is very smart. I think letting it patrol the castle might help catch Black."
Sirius also wagged his tail and walked to Professor McGonagall's side, rubbing his head against hers.
"Well, it might be helpful in catching Black, but you have to make sure it doesn't hurt the students." Professor McGonagall nodded.
Charlotte assured, "Don't worry, it will get along well with the students."
After getting Professor McGonagall's approval, Sirius now had the power to act in the castle openly.
Then Sherlock took Sirius out of Professor McGonagall's office. Just as they were going downstairs, Snape, who had greasy kelp-like hair, a pale face, and a robe like a big black bat, happened to meet them in the lobby on the first floor.
"Forrest, when are you going to give me the balance of the potion materials!" Snape asked Sherlock with a sinister face when he saw him.
Sherlock then remembered that he owed him a sum of money when he bought materials from him last time.
"I'll send it to you at noon."
Snape snorted coldly, and then he noticed Sirius who was following Sherlock.
The man and the dog looked at each other, and Snape always felt that the dog gave him a very disgusting feeling, as if he had seen an enemy.
Sirius also bared his teeth at him.
"What's the matter with this dog?" Snape asked with a frown.
"It's used to catch Black." Sherlock raised his eyebrows, "I've just reported it to Professor McGonagall."
Snape didn't hide his disgust for him at all.
"I hope it won't be killed by Black's spell."
After saying that, he turned around and continued to walk towards the direction of the hall. Apart from the disgust, he didn't find any problems with Sirius.
Sirius looked at Snape's back and rolled his eyes at him. Sherlock patted his dog head and signaled him to follow him.
They returned to Sherlock's office. Today happened to be Saturday, and Harry would come to the office in the evening to continue practicing the Patronus Charm.
So Sherlock asked Sirius not to go out of the office, and he went to the kitchen to tell the house elves that from today on, the three meals for two people would be delivered directly to his office by magic.
Just when Sherlock and Lupin found Sirius and got to know the whole story from him.
Ron finally reconciled with Hermione.
On the day when Harry's Marauder's Map was taken away by Lupin, Hagrid also lost the lawsuit against Buckbeak in the Ministry of Magic. Almost all the judges stood on Lucius' side, sentenced Buckbeak to death, and set the execution date.
Hermione was in a state of despair. After meeting Ron and Harry, she cried and apologized to Ron. At this time, Ron's awkwardness finally disappeared, saying that it was not her fault, and the two reconciled again.
When reconciling, they happened to meet Draco who was acting weird. Hermione was angry because his father bribed the judges to execute Buckbeak, so she slapped him on the spot, which stunned Draco.
After that, Hermione seemed to have completely let it go.
Because there were too many courses, she gave up the Divination class that she didn't like in the first place, which was useless, and focused her energy on other courses.
In addition to continuing to learn the Patronus Charm, Harry also had to take care of the last Quidditch match against Slytherin at the end of the semester.
This weekend, he came to Sherlock's office as promised. After this class, he planned to take another week off and come back to continue his class after the Quidditch game.
As soon as he walked into Sherlock's office, Harry saw the big dog lying next to the desk.
He immediately walked over with his eyes wide open, looking at the dog in front of him who also stood up from the ground.
"Professor, is this your new pet?"
Black wagged his tail, staring at Harry with his eyes piercing, and took the initiative to get close to him.
Harry tried to touch his head, and found that Sirius not only did not resist but also looked happy, so he became bolder.
Sherlock looked at Sirius's tail wagging quickly, and knew that he must be enjoying this time now. After all, not only Harry is his only family, but Sirius himself also has only Harry as a relative in terms of emotions.
"I guess so. I'll take care of this dog for now, just to prevent Black from breaking into the school."
Harry stroked Sirius's head for a while, then said.
"I'm going to ask you for leave next week, professor. The Quidditch final is coming soon. In order for Gryffindor to win the championship, I have to focus on training."
Sherlock waved his hand.
"No need to ask for leave. You won't learn much about the Patronus Charm later. You just need an opportunity to truly shape your Patronus. You've already done a good job in theory."
"Are we still going to this class?" Harry asked.
Sherlock pointed at Sirius.
"In this class, you can help me take this dog for a walk in the castle. It's the last task for you."
Harry naturally accepted this. He carried Sirius out of Sherlock's office, strolled around the corridors and the castle, and finally took him into the Gryffindor common room.
This surprised all the Gryffindors.
Ron, who was helping Hermione look up files on hippogriffs, looked at Sirius and asked with a blink.
"Where did you get the dog?"
