Chapter 1673
"What's wrong?"
Bernita woke up in a daze. She was a light sleeper. The weather tonight was bad, so she was awakened by a little noise.
She turned on the bedside lamp and saw Miles' pale face.
He was sweating profusely, and his frightened look was as scary as if he had seen a ghost.
Miles said nothing. He sat stiffly, breathing heavily, as if he had just run a marathon.
He was old and his body couldn't stand it.
He was awakened by a nightmare and couldn't sleep anymore.
He didn't answer Bernita's words. In her surprised eyes, he got up and got out of bed.
He went into the bathroom to wash his face, and finally came to the table to pour himself a glass of water.
After drinking the ice water, the feeling of shortness of breath seemed to be better.
Miles exhaled heavily.
"What happened to you?"
Bernita came to him in pajamas. At this moment, Bernita felt that the husband who slept with her in the same bed was a little strange.
Even if he had kept a lover outside, his face had never been as strange as it was now.
Miles shook his head and whispered: "I'm fine, Bernita, I had a nightmare, go to sleep."
His voice was a little hoarse, as if he was speaking in a breath, like an old man in his twilight years.
Bernita looked worried, she held Miles' shoulders: "No, Miles, you rarely have nightmares, you are not in a good state, what happened?"
Miles still shook his head and didn't speak. He covered his forehead with his hand and seemed to have a headache.
Bernita guessed a little: "Is it because of the emperor's matter?"
Miles' fingertips trembled, and then, Bernita said: "Or because of...Kasha...?"
With just this sentence, Miles suddenly withdrew his palm.
"No, you think too much, Bernita!"
However, the more she denied, the more she admitted that it was indeed related to Kasha.
Bernita had always been wondering what happened, so Miles mentioned his daughter like a taboo.
For so many years, she had not heard Kasha's name from her husband several times.
If she hadn't known for sure, she would even think that Kasha was not Miles' daughter at all.
Bernita hesitated for a moment, knowing that the more she asked, the more her husband would resist, "I'll go get you a cup of coffee."
When she went downstairs, Bernita saw that the light in the kitchen was on, and there could be no servants at this time.
She went over and saw that it was indeed her daughter, Claire.
She was still wearing a black and white dress, and she didn't even remove her makeup. The retro makeup looked luxurious and indifferent.
"Are you done with work, Claire?"
Bernita was not surprised. Claire often came home suddenly like this. Usually, she lived outside because she was too busy at work.
Claire nodded and touched her forehead: "I feel a little headache, Mom, why haven't you slept yet?"
"Your father had a nightmare tonight and woke up." Bonita noticed that the corners of Claire's clothes were a little wet, probably because of the heavy rain outside: "Did you get wet? Go to the room early to take a warm bath and go to bed early to avoid catching a cold."
Claire's attention was attracted by her words: "Father was woken up by a nightmare? Why did he have a nightmare?"
In her memory, shouldn't such ridiculous things as nightmares belong to children or young men and women?
